All local parks are FREE and open every day of the year. Here are some of the largest listed here (with children's play areas).
Playground Play
"Playground Play" are short play sessions providing a variety of art, craft and games activities aimed at children from two years old up along with their parents/carers, based in their Neighbourhood Play Areas.

NEW! MUDDY HANDS SESSIONS (Running until Dec 20 2010)
Outdoor play for under fives and their carers, in association with Chelmsford Children's Centres. Each Monday from 1300 - 1400. Meet at Admirals Park (next to the pedestrian gate)

Admirals Park & Towers Garden | Children's Play area includes roundabout, climbing frames, slides, swings all suitable for under 5s. | Free car park & toilets | Other areas of interest include riverside walks, wide pathways suitable for triking/cycling, recycle garden.
Boleyn Gardens, Beaulieu Park | Access via White Hart Lane, turn into Beaulieu Boulevard or Shardlow Avenue. | Children's Play area includes swings, climbing frames, slides, large grassy areas. Picnic benches. | Landscaped gardens, including the Elements Garden.
Central Park including Bell Meadow | Bell Meadow is exclusively a small children's play area and is near the rear of Marks & Spencer. | Central Park has a large 'purple' play area with swings and a large climbing frame suitable for a wide range of ages. | Large pathways and grassy areas. Lake with ducks.
Hylands House Estate | Access from the A414 Writtle by-pass or the A414 London Rd - 2 free car parks | Children's Play area - Large climbing frame not suitable for under 5s. New swing. 574 acres of parkland | Lawned area at the rear of Hylands House ideal for picnics and games. | Pleasure gardens and ponds, Serpentine Lake & Woodland area | One World Garden | Picnic benches | Cafe, Visitor Shop, Stables courtyard, Toilets.
Oaklands Park | Access via Moulsham St or Vicarage Rd. | Two Children's Play Areas including : swings, climbing frames, rope bridges, slides, playhouse, new roundabout. Large lawned area ideal for picnics and games. | Landscaped gardens | Free Car Park & Toilets | Chelmsford Museum & Essex Regiment Museum are sited here. Both free admission.
